Compelling Online Learning with Integrated Mediasite Solutions
The UNC Cancer Network at University of North Carolina's Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center has been streaming and archiving telehealth professional lectures for several years, and Mediasite has been a key component of this effort. Lectures are held via video conferencing combined with WebEx. Moving forward, UNC Cancer Network plans to develop a robust oncology learning center integrating elements of Mediasite, Sakai, Salesforce, Poll Everywhere and more to provide state-wide education on cancer topics for professionals and the general public. In this session, Tim shares his experiences. Since he's also interested in learning from others' distance education experiences, Tim will facilitate an open group discussion following their session.

This is especially the case when you need to merge multiple technologies into a single package. You can know everything about some things, something about everything, but you can't know everything about everything. John and Eric share how they worked with their partners to design, implement and maintain a hands-free lecture capture system for UW-Milwaukee. As you will see, it was a joint effort from the start, is yet today and will be into the future.

He is responsible for over 500 computers between faculty, staff, labs and classrooms. and also manages technology in eight mediated classrooms/labs, two of which are equipped with lecture capture.

Chris Richter, Producer/Director, City of Madison Information Technology Media Team, Chris started working for the City of Madison in 1989 for what was known as CitiCable 12. He got his foot in the door by working with studio lighting and remote productions. Over the years he has expanded into virtually all areas of production performed by the Madison City Channel or IT-Media. Originally from Milwaukee, Chris has moved around the state of Wisconsin while growing up, but has truly become a Madison resident and put down roots since going to college at the UW-Madison.

He further pursued his interest in technology by earning a Database Specialist Certificate from Caldwell Community College and a Network+ Certification through CompTIA. At UNC Chapel Hill School of Medicine he served as a Technology Support Technician where he also earned his Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) certification from InfoComm International.

Let's Talk: How Do We Support Captions in My Mediasite?
In 1998, the US government passed Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, which requires all federal offices and those receiving federal funding to make information technology accessible to people with disabilities, including students at public universities. Captions are an essential piece of these requirements. NC State has established a Captioning Grant and a DIY process for creating captions. In this session, Serena discusses supporting faculty and staff to create captions in support of accommodations or proactively. She invites you to share the captioning challenges you're facing and any solutions or best practices you have developed as you support captioning with My Mediasite.

Mediasite: Our Prescription for Learning
Duquesne University School of Pharmacy offers the only weekend doctor of pharmacy degree program in the US. In this post-baccalaureate, four-year program, students attend all-day classes most weekends of the year. Based on Mediasite, this weekend program has since expanded to the school's weekday Doctor of Pharmacy program as well as the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Bob shares how Duquesne currently captures all lectures in six weekday classes, in-depth vignette lectures for professors, lab demonstrations, faculty candidate presentations, department meetings, graduations and dissertation meetings. Mediasite is clearly a solution that works for Duquesne with students watching over 8,100 hours of content and logging over 14,000 views in 2014-2015.
Robert Timmins, Multimedia Specialist, Duquesne University School of Pharmacy, Bob manages eight Mediasite recording systems at Duquesne University. He has a background in video production and photography and also works outside the university in the competitive dance industry and national-level high school marching band events. A high school marching band director in his first life, Bob now records 70 - 80 hours of content every week using Mediasite.
