Compelling Online Learning with Integrated Mediasite Solutions
The UNC Cancer Network at University of North Carolina's Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center has been streaming and archiving telehealth professional lectures for several years, and Mediasite has been a key component of this effort. Lectures are held via video conferencing combined with WebEx. Moving forward, UNC Cancer Network plans to develop a robust oncology learning center integrating elements of Mediasite, Sakai, Salesforce, Poll Everywhere and more to provide state-wide education on cancer topics for professionals and the general public. In this session, Tim shares his experiences.
Since he's also interested in learning from others' distance education experiences, Tim will facilitate an open group discussion following their session.
Tim Poe, Director of Telehealth, University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, Tim has over 24 years experience delivering technology in healthcare, educational, for-profit and state network settings across North Carolina. Prior to joining UNC, Tim served with VIF International Education, MCNC and Duke University, leading the development of shared technology infrastructure for the K-20 community.

Creating an Inclusive Learning Environment: Closed Captioning with My Mediasite
Captions create a more inclusive learning environment by improving student comprehension and engagement and making materials accessible to a wide range of students. In this session, Serena shares NC State's approach to captioning in My Mediasite, including the school's captioning grant and NC State DELTA's (Distance Education and Learning Technology Applications) process of DIY captions using YouTube. Serena Reavis, Instructional Technology Specialist, North Carolina State University, Serena Reavis is an Instructional Technology Specialist with NC State's DELTA (Distance Education and Learning Technology Applications). She creates and delivers workshops for faculty and staff on a variety of instructional tools such as Moodle, Google and Blackboard Collaborate, and pedagogical strategies such as online course design and Universal Design for Learning. In addition, she is the department's accessibility contact and serves on the Accessibility Service Team and the Accessibility Working Group.

Don't Go It Alone! The Value of Partnering on Major IT Projects
Partnering with vendors and other campus units has become a necessity in this rapidly changing and resource strapped world. This is especially the case when you need to merge multiple technologies into a single package. You can know everything about some things, something about everything, but you can't know everything about everything. John and Eric share how they worked with their partners to design, implement and maintain a hands-free lecture capture system for UW-Milwaukee. As you will see, it was a joint effort from the start, is yet today and will be into the future.
Eric Dietenberger, Desktop/Classroom Support Specialist, University Of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, Eric has work for the Lubar School of Business for over 22 years, the last 12 of those years as its desktop/classroom support specialist. He is responsible for over 500 computers between faculty, staff, labs and classrooms. and also manages technology in eight mediated classrooms/labs, two of which are equipped with lecture capture.

Involve Everybody! Creatively Using Mediasite for Professional Development
How have we used webcasting innovatively to establish an active community of learners? Mark shares how Te Whatu Kura (an induction and mentoring programme for beginning teachers in New Zealand) uses Mediasite in all aspects of a professional learning and development process, to create a programme with user-generated content that rocks! An exciting collaboration between mentor and mentee MÄori K-12 teachers and facilitators from the University of Auckland, has resulted in a stimulating hybrid virtual delivery programme to support professionals in their work. Mark shares the secrets behind this tremendously successful collaborative programme that combines a "capture everything" philosophy and UGC teacher delivery with every Mediasite webcasting technology they can get their hands on.
Mark Dashper, e-Learning Facilitator, University of Auckland - Faculty of Education - Team Solutions, Mark serves as a Facilitator in schools in e-Learning professional learning and development over the northern area of New Zealand, in mostly indigenous MÄori schools. He has 21 years teaching Visual Arts and is passionate about the arts, music, e-Learning and Sci-Fi. Mark has been using Mediasite for almost 10 years and is involved in all facets of webcasting production. He has presented papers and workshops on his e-Learning initiatives at conferences across New Zealand, Australia and the USA. Mark is currently completing his doctorate in educational social networking for MÄori students.

Mediasite: Our Prescription for Learning
Duquesne University School of Pharmacy offers the only weekend doctor of pharmacy degree program in the US. In this post-baccalaureate, four-year program, students attend all-day classes most weekends of the year. Based on Mediasite, this weekend program has since expanded to the school's weekday Doctor of Pharmacy program as well as the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Bob shares how Duquesne currently captures all lectures in six weekday classes, in-depth vignette lectures for professors, lab demonstrations, faculty candidate presentations, department meetings, graduations and dissertation meetings. Mediasite is clearly a solution that works for Duquesne with students watching over 8,100 hours of content and logging over 14,000 views in 2014-2015.
Robert Timmins, Multimedia Specialist, Duquesne University School of Pharmacy, Bob manages eight Mediasite recording systems at Duquesne University. He has a background in video production and photography and also works outside the university in the competitive dance industry and national-level high school marching band events. A high school marching band director in his first life, Bob now records 70 - 80 hours of content every week using Mediasite.

My Mediasite and Students at ECU!
ECU's College of Allied Health Sciences adopted My Mediasite's Desktop Recorder (MDR) almost as soon as it was available for faculty-generated content. During fall semester, a faculty member chose to extend My Mediasite to students for a final project that included a video reflection on one topic covered that semester. Jean and Jarrett share various tips, foibles and other details on how ECU successfully extended My Mediasite for student use.

She has worked with Mediasite since August 2006 when the College moved into new facilities and adopted Mediasite as its lecture capture system. OET handles all aspects of recording, classroom, mobile and desktop as well as supporting faculty and students with the university’s LMS, webconferencing, videoconferencing and projects ad hoc!

• Challenges and lessons learned with developing his own CME Program
Derrick Freeman, Program Manager, OSU MedNet21 Webcast Producer, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center., At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Derrick is responsible for producing their CME Webcast, OSU MedNet21, and providing technical support to 32 subscribing hospitals that utilize this weekly webcast for physicians. In addition, Derrick recommends technical tools for the webcast, produces video segments, works with physician presenters and designs streaming production workflows MedNet21 and online CME. Overall, Derrick has 11 years of video production experience, 10 years of videography experience and 8 years of non-linear editing experience. He was also an instructor in the Design Department at Sinclair Community College for five years and served as an Instructor and Video Streaming and Compression Consultant for Freeman Compression Inc. for six years. Outside of his previous teaching and consulting duties, he has spoken at WEVA Expo and NAB Show, teaching video streaming and compression. Derrick holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication from DePauw University.

Teaching with Glass: Behind the Scenes of UConn's Lightboard Recording Room
Learn how the University of Connecticut has developed a new way to simply and effectively create content by building a Lightboard using Mediasite Desktop Recorder. The Lightboard is located in UConn's new recording room built from the design of Dr. Michael Peshkin at Northwestern University and John Mocko at the University of Florida. It allows faculty to write on glass while facing the camera, mixing traditional teaching styles with new technologies. Faculty seamlessly interact with video and images making for a more engaging learner experience. Faculty use the Lightboard for supplemental instruction, online courses and flipped classrooms. Keith and Karen cover the development of the Lightboard's infrastructure, how it integrates with Mediasite and student feedback.

She recently completed her Masters at the UConn Neag School of Education in Cognition, Instruction, and Learning Technology and is now an Educational Technologist at the University of Connecticut. Elise and David from NYU's College of Dentistry and College of Nursing, respectively, share how they seamlessly record course content by integrating Mediasite with their EMS scheduling platform.
Ron Jailall, Sales Engineer, Sonic Foundry, As an expert in classroom technology, Ron’s goal is to make learning spaces easier and more convenient to use. At North Carolina State University he used his touch panel programming expertise to innovate classroom control, create a lecture capture system and interface for blind users, and streamline support for large numbers of technology-enhanced rooms. He has shared his design innovations with others at several conferences. Ron joined Sonic Foundry as a Sales Engineer and also contributes to the Advanced Integration Services team.

Using Mediasite for Your Online Programs: Best Practices & Lessons Learned
In 2013, Villanova's use of Mediasite as their video platform for online programs expanded dramatically with the launch of several new online degree programs. They now use Mediasite in several modalities including recording lectures in professional studios, empowering off-campus faculty to record lectures with Mediasite Desktop Recorder and delivering video within their LMS. Naturally, explosion in use impacts Villanova's Mediasite management and support practices. Ankit shares specific best practices and lessons learned to:
- Make the recording and post-production processes more efficient
- Develop productive relationships with internal as well as vendor Instructional Design teams
- Deal with storage and streaming quality issues caused by increased viewership

Using Mediasite to Improve Rural Access to Healthcare Coverage: A Virtual Tour of The Safetyweb Network
The Safetyweb Network uses Mediasite to help rural critical access hospitals collaborate and promote improved access to health care coverage for patients. Organized by ABC for Rural Health, Inc., the staff partner to produce, film and distribute short, timely webcasts on health coverage topics unique to the rural health care service providers. Well prior to filming, staff conduct self-assessments of all training participants to measure existing health coverage knowledge and where gaps exist. Staff then creates content to help fill the gaps and raise the collective knowledge of the Network. Brynne and Bobby provide a virtual tour of how they incorporate Mediasite into their overall training approach and shares how they create engaging content with closed captions, analytics, interactive polling, moderated Q&A and more.
