Involve Everybody! Creatively Using Mediasite for Professional Development
How have we used webcasting innovatively to establish an active community of learners? Mark shares how Te Whatu Kura (an induction and mentoring programme for beginning teachers in New Zealand) uses Mediasite in all aspects of a professional learning and development process, to create a programme with user-generated content that rocks! An exciting collaboration between mentor and mentee Māori K-12 teachers and facilitators from the University of Auckland, has resulted in a stimulating hybrid virtual delivery programme to support professionals in their work. Mark shares the secrets behind this tremendously successful collaborative programme that combines a "capture everything" philosophy and UGC teacher delivery with every Mediasite webcasting technology they can get their hands on.

My Mediasite and Students at ECU!
ECU's College of Allied Health Sciences adopted My Mediasite's Desktop Recorder (MDR) almost as soon as it was available for faculty-generated content. During fall semester, a faculty member chose to extend My Mediasite to students for a final project that included a video reflection on one topic covered that semester. Jean and Jarrett share various tips, foibles and other details on how ECU successfully extended My Mediasite for student use.

Derrick Freeman, Program Manager, OSU MedNet21 Webcast Producer, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center., At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Derrick is responsible for producing their CME Webcast, OSU MedNet21, and providing technical support to 32 subscribing hospitals that utilize this weekly webcast for physicians. In addition, Derrick recommends technical tools for the webcast, produces video segments, works with physician presenters and designs streaming production workflows MedNet21 and online CME. Overall, Derrick has 11 years of video production experience, 10 years of videography experience and 8 years of non-linear editing experience. He was also an instructor in the Design Department at Sinclair Community College for five years and served as an Instructor and Video Streaming and Compression Consultant for Freeman Compression Inc. for six years. Outside of his previous teaching and consulting duties, he has spoken at WEVA Expo and NAB Show, teaching video streaming and compression. Derrick holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication from DePauw University.

Teaching with Glass: Behind the Scenes of UConn's Lightboard Recording Room
Learn how the University of Connecticut has developed a new way to simply and effectively create content by building a Lightboard using Mediasite Desktop Recorder. The Lightboard is located in UConn's new recording room built from the design of Dr. Michael Peshkin at Northwestern University and John Mocko at the University of Florida. It allows faculty to write on glass while facing the camera, mixing traditional teaching styles with new technologies. Faculty seamlessly interact with video and images making for a more engaging learner experience. Faculty use the Lightboard for supplemental instruction, online courses and flipped classrooms. Keith and Karen cover the development of the Lightboard's infrastructure, how it integrates with Mediasite and student feedback.

In 2013, Villanova's use of Mediasite as their video platform for online programs expanded dramatically with the launch of several new online degree programs. They now use Mediasite in several modalities including recording lectures in professional studios, empowering off-campus faculty to record lectures with Mediasite Desktop Recorder and delivering video within their LMS. Naturally, explosion in use impacts Villanova's Mediasite management and support practices. The Safetyweb Network uses Mediasite to help rural critical access hospitals collaborate and promote improved access to health care coverage for patients. Organized by ABC for Rural Health, Inc., the staff partner to produce, film and distribute short, timely webcasts on health coverage topics unique to the rural health care service providers. Well prior to filming, staff conduct self-assessments of all training participants to measure existing health coverage knowledge and where gaps exist. Staff then creates content to help fill the gaps and raise the collective knowledge of the Network.
